Welcome to Songs of Loss and Hope, a violin recital by Joshua Peckins, featuring music by Ravel, Bach and contemporary composer Jessie Montgomery. This virtual concert includes music spanning four centuries (including our own!), and features Baroque dances, powerful laments, and a virtuosic rhapsody.

Joshua Peckins, who has frequently performed at Somerville Libraries in previous years, will also share stories and historical information about the pieces and the composers, exploring the question: “What is the role of music and art during a time of pandemic and loss?”

There is also a special appearance by composer Jessie Montgomery, introducing her piece, Rhapsody No. 1.
